If you are wondering how to brush teeth, you have to understand the importance of regular dental hygiene. If you do not brush your teeth regularly, plaque will accumulate on your teeth causing various dental problems such as tooth decay, cavities and gum diseases. People with teeth that are stained or a build up of plaque and food in their mouth are more prone to infections and tooth sensitivity.

It is important to brush your teeth at least twice a day in order to remove the food particles, plaque and bacteria that may be stuck to your teeth and to keep your healthy teeth free from tartar and disease. A good brushing routine consists of at least a three to four minutes brushing followed by a full flossing of the tongue and teeth. Flossing is the process of removing the food particles that are stuck on the surface of the teeth or on the gums.

You can either brush your teeth after taking a sip of water or before eating so that you can get rid of the food particles that are stuck on the tongue or between the teeth. This will help to get rid of the food particles that remain on the surfaces of your teeth. Brushing your teeth will also prevent your teeth from developing gingivitis which is the term for bad oral hygiene.

One of the problems that people face when they do not brush their teeth regularly is that the bacteria from the plaque build up forms on the teeth and gums. These bacteria may cause the formation of tartar. Tartar on the teeth has a discoloration and yellowish appearance. Gums are affected as well as the surrounding tissues.

There are different types of toothpastes for adults. It is important to choose one that does not contain alcohol or sugar which may cause cavities. Having plaque on the teeth or gums can cause tooth sensitivity and infection in the gums, cheeks and tongue.

Brushing your teeth with the use of a bristled toothbrush is advantageous because it will not just get rid of the food particles but it will also loosen the build up of plaque. The bristles on the toothbrush will work to push the food and plaque down into the tray below. After brushing your teeth, you can easily floss and rinse the tray with mouthwash or rinse water after flossing the teeth.

You need to make sure that you are using a good brush for proper cleaning of your teeth. You can check out online for information on the right brush for your teeth. There are some brushes that are made specifically for dentists and there are also bristle toothbrushes for the home user.

A good brush can be a great idea for all people including teenagers who want to take care of their teeth. Dentists recommend regular brushing in order to maintain and strengthen the teeth.

What Your Dental Team Is Doing to Keep You Healthy

Dear Mayani Dental family:

The health and well-being of our patients is our top priority, now and always. In response to the coronavirus pandemic, we are closely following and adhering to precautions advised by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

We want to assure you that we are taking continuous steps to ensure that our office remains a safe place for every patient. It’s important for you to know that dentists are experts in infection control. For instance, we have been trained to prevent the spread of infectious diseases such as flu, HIV, hepatitis, tuberculosis and all viral diseases. The precautions we take every day will also help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

We follow precautions developed by the CDC to protect both health care personnel and patients. We sterilize all instruments at 375°F after each use and clean each dental operatory after each patient visit, using surface disinfectants that kill all known infectious diseases, including coronavirus. We utilize dedicated hand wash and one-time use disposable materials which help maintain a safe environment for our patients. Our staff is regularly trained in these procedures.

Working with our facility managers, we’ve ensured that our cleaning team has a sufficient stock of supplies. We have asked them to apply additional focus and time on cleaning door handles, faucets, and other items with high-traffic hand touches. Magazines in our waiting areas are also a risk from frequent contact, so they have been removed.

Seeing your dentist is a vital investment for your general health. Our office remains open to care for our patients following the above guidelines. If you have a fever, are exhibiting symptoms of respiratory illness, or have had recent contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, you may be a risk to other patients or staff members. If you are experiencing fever (greater than 100.4), cough, or shortness of breath, please remain at home and contact your primary care physician immediately.
