Periodontal Care | Gum Disease in Brighton MA

Gum Disease in Brighton MA | At Mayani Dental Group, we provide world-class periodontal care and services for patients with gum disease in Brighton MA. Gum health is more important than many realize. If left unchecked gum disease can lead to tooth loss. Ultimately, it can threaten your overall health, as well.

Although there’s no definitive cure for gum disease, it can be prevented. For instance, you can protect your gums and teeth with regular brushing and cleaning as well as with regular visits to our dental office. On the otherhand, if you already have a serious condition such as gingivitis, this requires immediate emergency dental treatment to avoid irreversible bone and tooth loss.

Of course, the best defense against poor gum health is regular dental visits, along with consistent daily brushing and sound dental hygiene habits.

If you do have periodontal disease, there are several treatment options we can pursue. For example, we can use surgical or non-surgical therapy to reverse the effects of gum disease and avoid tooth loss. Whatever the severity, the dental team at Mayani Dental Brighton can create a personalized periodontal treatment plan suited to your unique situation.

In doing so, we’re able to help each patient achieve and maintain optimal periodontal health.

Periodontal Therapy

Sometimes patients who suffer from periodontis experience inflammation of the gums and receding teeth. When left untreated, periodontal disease can lead to severe infection and intense pain.

There is a common notion among patients that periodontal therapy requires surgery. However, that’s not always the case. In fact, patients treated in the early stages of gum disease respond well to nonsurgical periodontal therapy.

Only when the condition becomes severe is surgical intervention necessary. No matter the severity, Mayani Dental Group can provide a treatment plan that addresses any stage of periodontal disease. As a case in point, treatments aimed at limiting the advancement of periodontal disease may include scaling, root planning, and specialized deep cleaning or any combination of these options.

What to Expect During Periodontal Treatment?

Our periodontal treatment process typically begins with a recommendation to change your daily dental routine. If your condition is severe, we may use more advanced treatment methods like bite therapy, calculus removal, or surgical therapy.

We have perfected treatment to the extent that patients experience little if any pain. Patients who undergo the procedure at our local dental office can relax and even watch TV or listen to music during the procedure.

What Your Dental Team Is Doing to Keep You Healthy

Dear Mayani Dental family:

The health and well-being of our patients is our top priority, now and always. In response to the coronavirus pandemic, we are closely following and adhering to precautions advised by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

We want to assure you that we are taking continuous steps to ensure that our office remains a safe place for every patient. It’s important for you to know that dentists are experts in infection control. For instance, we have been trained to prevent the spread of infectious diseases such as flu, HIV, hepatitis, tuberculosis and all viral diseases. The precautions we take every day will also help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

We follow precautions developed by the CDC to protect both health care personnel and patients. We sterilize all instruments at 375°F after each use and clean each dental operatory after each patient visit, using surface disinfectants that kill all known infectious diseases, including coronavirus. We utilize dedicated hand wash and one-time use disposable materials which help maintain a safe environment for our patients. Our staff is regularly trained in these procedures.

Working with our facility managers, we’ve ensured that our cleaning team has a sufficient stock of supplies. We have asked them to apply additional focus and time on cleaning door handles, faucets, and other items with high-traffic hand touches. Magazines in our waiting areas are also a risk from frequent contact, so they have been removed.

Seeing your dentist is a vital investment for your general health. Our office remains open to care for our patients following the above guidelines. If you have a fever, are exhibiting symptoms of respiratory illness, or have had recent contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, you may be a risk to other patients or staff members. If you are experiencing fever (greater than 100.4), cough, or shortness of breath, please remain at home and contact your primary care physician immediately.
